Dental caries

Conservative dentistry is one of the fundamental disciplines of classical dental medicine, oriented toward the repair and treatment of teeth and root canals, using aesthetic fillings and removing calculus deposits. The ultimate purpose of conservative dentistry is healthy and functional teeth and achieving a nicer smile.

Dental caries

The most common procedure in conservative dentistry is the treatment of caries. Proven to be the most widespread disease of today, caries can be defined as an infection caused by the effects of bacteria in the oral cavity, which gradually expands to portions of healthy teeth. In the event of caries, immediate action of a doctor of dental medicine is required. Shallow caries can be treated with fluoride, while more serious cases require mechanical operations. After removing the caries, the healthy portions of the tooth must be filled in order for the tooth to retain its vitality and function. With this purpose, the tooth cavity is filled with variations ranging from classical fillings to ceramic fillings that are permanent, resistant, durable and the aesthetically most acceptable type of filling.
