The term implant-supported suprastructure understands an overdenture attached to the implant to fix the prosthetic replacement (crown, bridge etc.). The suprastructure presents the connection between the implant and the prosthetic replacement. Dental implant suprastructures are fabricated in dental laboratories and then fixed by a dentist into the implant.
Implant suprastructures are always attached to implant types, brands respectively. Used at the Polyclinic Dr. Jelušić
is the Astra Tech dental implant system considered to be one of the top international implant systems. The suprastructures of the Astra Tech system can be prefabricated, individualized or completely individual.
Prefabricated suprastructures are factory manufactured suprastructures fixed by the physician into the implant without any modifications. They are available in various lengths and diameters and selected in compliance with the case situation – depending on the thickness of the mucous membrane surrounding the implant and on the type of the prosthetic procedure.
Individualized suprastructures are those selected by the laboratory in compliance with the instructions of the physician, but then adjusted to the specific situation. They are adapted or individualized in the laboratory – adding to their quality of restoration; they become more flexible and thus meet better the aesthetic and functional requirements of the patient.

Individual suprastructures from the technological point of view, are the most complicated ones and capable of meeting the most complex aesthetic requirements in the implant prosthetical rehabilitations. Individual overdenture can completely imitate the profile of the natural tooth, resulting in the fact that an implant-supported tooth cannot be distinguished from the natural one. To achive complete harmony of the mucous membrane and the prosthetic replacement itself, such rehabilitation cases often require special preparation of the mucous membrane surrounding the implant, and sometimes also fine parodontological surgeries.
Suprastructures can be made from various materials, but they are most frequently made from titanium. Titanium is the standard material of suprastructures, substantially contributing to the stability of the mucous membrane and the bone around the implant. In aesthetical rehabilitations, zirconium is used as a suprastructure material. Zirconium suprastructures are aesthetical and, if needed, can be additionally nuanced to come completely closest to the natural tooth colour. In addition to titanium and zirconium, a gold alloy is also used to obtain a gold suprastructure.
Gold suprastructures are completely individual suprastructures used in special cases - for example, when a large, massive suprastructure is needed or when there is some other special prosthetic requirement.
