Implantology is a branch of dental medicine that offers solutions for all edentulous cases – from the absence of one tooth to the absence of all teeth. It is intended for all age groups and presents the ideal solution for people who are not satisfied with classical dentures, which in most cases cause obstacles upon chewing food and speaking normally.

Implants

Dental implants are high-quality prosthetic solutions that increase the quality of life, contribute to the preservation of natural teeth and prevent bone resorption.

They consist of three parts:
IMPLANT – titanium screw that is placed in the jaw during a minor, painless surgical procedure. The success rate of such a therapy is approximately 95 to 100 percent, which makes it one of the safest and most long-term treatments in dental medicine. After growing together with the bone (osteointegration), the implant represents a tooth root replacement.
PROSTHETIC ABUTMENT – made of titanium, zirconium or gold, serves as a connection between the implant on one side and the prosthetic restoration (bridge or crown) on the other side.
TOOTH (CROWN OR BRIDGE) – made from ceramic or zirconium, permanently fixated on the prosthetic abutment.

Why implantology?

Every tooth loss can be a reason for replacement with an implant.

In the case of an absence of several teeth, bridges are placed on implants, which are the most natural replacements for natural teeth. In this manner, removable prosthetic solutions are avoided and natural teeth are preserved. Simultaneously, the patient receives a more comfortable and natural prosthetic restoration that functions like natural teeth, which contributes to greater self-esteem and satisfaction of the patient.
In the case of an absence of all teeth, with the help of implants, the patient can receive a fixed bridge supported by implants or a denture fixed on implants. In such cases, the fabrication of a fixed bridge is preceded by a thorough analysis of the overall situation and satisfactory bone conditions. Upon fulfillment of the set conditions, in Dental Center Jelušić, the patient is fitted with six implants, upon which a 12 tooth bridge is fixated. At times it is possible to decrease the number of implants for fixed restorations, and at times it is necessary to resort to additional bone augmentation and increase of the total number of implants.

Fixed rehabilitation is not possible in cases with sever bone loss. In such cases, the patient is fitted with a hybrid denture, which consists of placing four implants and the fabrication of a supraconstruction for stabilizing dentures. Such dentures are extremely strong and stable and are significantly smaller in respect to classical removable dentures.
In many cases of fully edentulous lower jaws, patients cannot wear conventional removable dentures. An overdenture is recommended to such patients – two implants are placed in the front of the lower jaw, on which abutments are placed, whose main goal is stabilizing the denture and achieving complete functionality.

Implantation system Astra Tech

In order for the mentioned treatments to achieve the best effect, the Swedish implantation system Astra Tech is used in Dental Clinic Jelušić, as its numerous patented innovations makes it is one of the most qualitative and most recognized systems in the world. Some of its distinctive features are: titanium surface Osseospeed – strengthens the connection between the bone and the implant and encourages the generation of stronger bones in a shorter period of time; Microthreads – microthreads on the implant itself, which contribute to the stability of the bone and prevent bone resorption; Conical seal design – exceptionally strong and stable conical sealing system of the suprastructure of the implant; Connective Contour – specific profile of soft tissue surrounding the implant and prosthetic suprastructure that ensures aesthetic stability throughout the years.

In Dental Clinic Jelušić, patients have one of the most modern computer-aided methods of implant placement at their disposal. With the help of 3D software, the optimal position of the implant inside the jaw bone is determined virtually. In the dental clinic’s laboratory, an implant template is then fabricated based on the received results, which enables the prompt and precise placement of the implant. In this manner, conventional incisions through the gums are completely avoided.

In some cases, it is possible proceed with the fabrication of suitable teeth immediately upon implant placement. This method is called immediate loading of implants and represents the fabrication of restorations within 48 hours after implant placement. Such teeth perfectly mimic natural teeth aesthetically and functionally. However, this technique cannot be used on every patient in every situation.
